When Pat landed a new job, she dashed off this note.  In order to complete the circle of communication, I jotted a quick reply to her. Notice that my response, although a brief 17 words, is quite positive and encouraging--just what someone needs when making a new start. These days, job announcements are likely to come by e-mail, and the response can be instantaneous.
