When an employee's daughter got engaged and also graduated from medical school within a month--a big deal--I was invited to a cocktail party in her honor. This is the note I sent to the hosts, friends of the groom's parents.

Thanks for a lovely party in honor of Annie and Stephen. Being new to the group, I appreciated your efforts to make me feel welcome. The catering was magnificent, and more importantly, you have many lovely friends. I enjoyed the evening immensely.
